With the advent of SACD and DVD-audio, the environment surrounding audio delivery has changed dramatically. High-end audio fans have been asking for this evolution to higher quality source data for a long time. There has also been pent-up demand for major changes in the playback devices needed for these new formats.


Esoteric P-03 and D-03

Take the new Esoteric P-03 which reproduces highly detailed performances surrounded by extreme transparency. Advanced technology combines the highly acclaimed Esoteric "Flagship" series design concepts of the P-01/D-01 system, and applies new DSD signal processing at a more affordable price point. As a result, the P-03/D-03 combination meets all the challenges of capturing spoken or musical potential of CD and SACD software.

A newly advanced VRDS-NEO mechanism has been developed and is supported by a highly rigid body construction. The P-03/D-03 CD/SACD transport system is extremely versatile, featuring multiple user selectable playback modes. These include CD audio (Redbook) playback, native DSD decoding, PCM up-conversion and Esoteric's advanced PCM to DSD signal conversion. A limited addition of the P-03, the P-03 Universal, adds DVD playback of the highest caliber to this already exceptionally capable engine.

 
 

 

The new P-03UNI integrates proven, high quality video processing technology with enhancements by ESOTERIC, providing high definition (HD), video resolution from your existing DVD collection. Unlike other players using 10 bit or 12 bit video processing, the P-03UNI is equipped with the latest 14 bit / 216 MHz video D / A converter from Analog Devices, and the newest video scaling chipset from Anchor Bay Technologies plus ESOTERIC's custom video output stage. This provides for DVD video up-conversion capability as high as 1080p (progressive scan).

In addition to conventional playback, the P-03UNI (When used with the companion D-03 DAC), features PCM to DSD signal conversion and native DSD mode for Super Audio CD. Users may select suitable digital conversion options based on personal preference relative to the type of source material used or the category of software selected.

 

 

One Step down from the P-03, the P-05 is a high performance CD/SACD transport solution for the next generation of audiophiles, incorporating a VRDS neo-mechanism, the P-05 builds upon the success of Esoteric's model P-70. This newly developed VRDS-NEO model VMK-5, (New-Vibration free Rigid Disc clamping System), combines two ESOTERIC proprietary technologies; the turntable disc clamping system and the unique VOSP (Vertically aligned Optical Stability Platform).

P-05 CD/SACD transport

The turntable securely clamps the disc and effectively reduces unwanted swing or vibration of the disc. This new turntable is precisely machined from solid aluminum helping to minimize rotational inertia. This extra light turntable design also ensures optimal performance as required for high speed disc rotation. In combination with this turntable system, the VOSP mechanism provides extremely accurate data retrieval by positioning the laser optical axis at the very center of the data track. This design eliminates off axis tracking and off axis error correction. Word clock input is included for synchronization with the matching D-05, D/A audio converter or with any of Esoteric’s stand alone master clock generators. Optical tracking and data retrieval is processed by the same pick-up assembly as in the Esoteric model P-03 audio transport.

D-05 DAC


The companion P-05 CD/SACD transport, the D-05 DAC supplies extremely natural and “true-to-life” analog signals to the amplifier by using the latest 32 bit digital to analog converter devices. The D-05 is the world’s first D/A converter incorporating the “AK4397” Delta-Sigma DAC device from AKM Semiconductor, Inc., This device has full 32 bit processing capability. The “AK4397” was designed combining newly developed high speed / high capacity digital processing components and improved analog processing components.

This device provides premium quality sound reproduction on a professional level. The “AK4397” has a superior and precise D/A conversion capability thanks to its fully extended 32 bit processing throughout all stages, including digital filter and the “Delta-Sigma,” modulator. This high performance technology is an evolutionary upgrade path from conventional 16 or 24 bit D/A converters. The D-05 incorporates dual mono digital and dual mono analog circuits, with dual mono power supply components to achieve extremely high resolution and superior channel separation. This design follows in the footsteps of Esoteric’s D-03 dual mono D/A converter. Word clock input and output is included for use with Esoteric transports or stand alone master clock sync generators.

Esoteric X-01 LTD CD/SACD Player
Looking for the best performance possible out of a one box SACD/CD player? Check out the amazing Esoteric X01-D2. Incorporating exactly the same VRDX-Ne mechanism as the Esoteric P-03 transport, the X01-D2 employs a newly designed DSD / multi-B.T. processing, dual mode mono D/A converter which brings it closer to the P-03 / D-03 in performance.

The Esoteric X-01 Limited is a supurb SACD/CD player, with upgraded high purity 6N copper class wire. The X-01 Limited's audio resolution characteristics and “acoustic texture” improves dramatically over the previous X-01. Other improvements include internal connection and higher grade power cables, adopted from the Esoteric P-01/D-01 “flagship” system components.


UX-3PI

For the best in movie watching, Esoteric has introduced the UX-3Pi, a state fo the art universal player aimed at the video / audiophile. The UX-3Pi's advanced 14 bit video processing and custom video output stage enables DVD up-conversion to high definition "HD" output at 480p, 720p and 1080i. This achieved from your existing DVD collection, without having to buy new software!

The UX-3SE VRDS mechanism and Burr Brown 24 bit D/A converters are included. In addition, the UX-3Pi adds the following incremental updates to the base feature set of the UX-3SE:



  • HDMI connector (V1.3 compliant).
  • 1080P HDMI terminal (version 1.3 compliant*) The UX-3Pi is equipped with the latest HDMI version 1.3 terminal (Maximum scaling: 1080P). HDMI output: 480i / 480P / 720P/ 1080i/ 1080P.
  • Home theater control functions including RS232C connector.
  • Remote control with illuminated keys for operation in low light or no light environments.


As with the P-03 universal, and UX1-D2, Esoteric makes a CD/SACD audio-only version of the UX-3pi, the X0-3SE, which replaces its video boards with a beefed up power supply and twice the number of DACS as the UX-3pi.

Esoteric DV-60

Esoteric became famous with its original DV-50 universal player which did everything in audio and video amazingly well. Its direct descendant is the Esoteric DV-60.

The Esoteric DV-60 universal player was developed for CD, SACD, DVD-audio, and DVD-Video. While satisfying the new-generation requests, the DV-60 (like other products in the Esoteric series) also makes your existing CDs sound better. Rather than making your current investment CDs obsolete, the DV-60 features high quality 2-channel dedicated analog audio outputs (balanced and unbalanced), a high-precision 24-bit digital to analog converter, unique up-conversion technology and multi-channel analog audio outputs (to support surround sound DVD video, multi-channel SACD and DVD-A). Of course ,Esoteric makes a an sacd/cd player version of  the DV-60, the SA-60 for the music lovers among us who have no need for the advanced video processing in the DV-60.Same sound,no video and less expensive!
